Multimedia Journalist
|
I am the weekend sports anchor and reporter for KFVS-TV, the CBS affiliate in Cape Girardeau, Mo. I previously worked as a sports reporter, producer and fill-in anchor for WMC-TV, the NBC Affiliate in Memphis, Tenn., and as a multimedia journalist at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Mo., Mid-Missouri's NBC affiliate.
My passion is sports reporting, but I pride myself in my versatility. As a one-man-band reporter, I shoot, write and edit my stories for broadcast and the web. As a live reporter, I am poised and confident in front of the camera, engaging my audience with every story. As an anchor, I write and produce my own sportscasts with a friendly, conversational style. As a play-by-play announcer, I am energetic and informative, describing the action vividly for the audience, while also keeping them entertained. With the changing business comes changing journalists. I am constantly finding new ways to tell stories. I have set up my own live shot using Skype; I have live-blogged the high school state basketball playoffs, which quickly became one of the most viewed stories on my station's website; and I constantly use social networking sites like Twitter to gather information, expand coverage and engage audience questions and responses. I am a new-media reporter with the passion of an old-school journalist. Whether its covering local high school teams as a sports reporter, or investigating breaking news events like train derailments and house explosions as a news reporter, I strive to find the best, most accurate story possible. My goal is to bring meaningful, informative and compelling stories to an audience—no matter the medium. The tools used to report stories will constantly be changing, but getting a story right will never get old. |
